how hard is muay thai training?
i am hoping to get some money for christmas and im going to use it on a muay thai school. what should i expect?
depends if it's american kick boxing "claimed" to be muay thai or authentic muay thai....
if it's been bastardized by americans, then it's going to be pretty easy.
Americans have a tendicy to take any martial art and turn it into a sport.
So exspect the same from any americanized school, endurance training, conditioning, and stretching as well as strenth training.
traditional muay thai uses feet, hands, elbows and knees if your school does not then it's kick boxing regardless of what they say.
you will be learning how to fight with both your hands and feet for quick and powerful strikes, most of the legs are used below the shoulder as body blows or leg blows, the hands are trained to come down over the head .
in traditinal muay thai you will go through shin training striking a log or tree untill you get micro fractures in your shins, then using special medicines and massaging tech to lossen and mend them, having them grow back stronger.
your guard will be high to protect your head the most vital part in a muay thai fight and you will be trained to take really hard blows to your side and ribs.
you will also learned to use elbos and knees including hand grabs which are followed by elbos to the face, flying knees and jumping knee stirkes...
if it's authentic your in for a treat and you will become a true warrior....
if not enjoy your day of exercise because it will be good for little else then basic self defense...
